Y WISH LIST: “Top of my travel wish list has always been Africa and I can’t wait to go to Kenya in January 2025 on a Fam trip. I adore France & Italy and will be going back for 4th or 5th time in May 2025 for a significant birthday trip, this time focusing on Sicily. Also on my wishlist for the future are Japan, Antarctica and Africa again (with hubby next time)!”

Like many of us in the Y Travel office, Cate Cave had a love for travel and adventure running through her veins from a very young age. With early memories of family holidays and weekends ‘abroad’ from her childhood in the UK, she officially caught the travel bug on her first independent holiday as a teenager - a Pacific cruise with friends. At twenty-one, Cate boldly set off for a two-year adventure through the UK, Russia, Eastern Europe - no mean feat in the days of the ‘Eastern Bloc’ -  igniting a lifelong passion for exploring the world. Or in the words of Cate’s mum “You’ve caught the Wanderlust..”

Cate began her professional journey in the travel industry with Qantas in 1989, gaining invaluable experience over 13 years in retail travel. Her career continued to flourish as she spent 15 years in the corporate sector, before returning to her roots in leisure travel here at Y Travel. With over 35 years in the industry, spanning airline, retail, corporate, and luxury leisure travel, Cate’s wealth of knowledge and expertise is unrivalled. Passionate about architectural history and a self-confessed foodie, Cate loves exploring European countries such as Italy, France, Greece, and Scotland.

In 2022, Cate transitioned to a more behind-the-scenes role in Operations, motivated by a personal lifestyle shift and a desire to step back from sales. Her meticulous nature, love of spreadsheets, and attention to detail make her an integral part of the team, overseeing itinerary documentation, booking checklists, finance, and ticketing with precision and care, providing essential support to both the client-facing and operational sides of the business.
