Y WISHLIST: “I have a never ending love affair with Africa - I’d love to venture to Omo Valley & Lalibela, Ethiopia, Lamu Island, Kenya, Skeleton Coast, Namibia and Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, South Africa. I also dream of searching for snow leopards in Ladakh, and exploring the beauty of Corsica & Sardinia.”

Having inherited a spirit of exploration from her sea captain father, Y Travel’s Office Manager Jodie Gent knew from the moment she completed high school that her career path needed to reflect her love of adventure and her desire to see the world, and was particularly drawn to the continent of Africa.

Her very first solo trip -  an adventurous overland journey Cape Town to London - is the perfect example of Jodie’s passion for exploration and dedication to experiencing the world first-hand, which remains to this day. With over three decades of industry experience, Jodie has lived an incredible travel-filled life, living in the Middle East, summiting Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, trekking through South America, and exploring the polar regions on expedition cruises, witnessing the “celestial ballet” of the northern lights, in Greenland. Her encounters with wildlife are equally inspiring, from photographing endangered Bengal tigers, to witnessing a polar bear family (with two tiny white cubs!) in their natural habitats.

Equally at home in a remote hillside tent or relaxing by the pool of a 5-star hotel, Jodie's passion for travel extends beyond her personal adventures. After many years dedicated to crafting beyond-ordinary experiences for other adventurous travellers, creating truly memorable, powerful, and life-enriching journeys, Jodie now utilises her profound industry knowledge, exceptional organisational skills and inspirational leadership to support the entire Y Travel team.
