High End Hotel Openings We’re Anticipating for 2023

High-end hospitality is in its heyday, with hundreds of luxury hotels, resorts and guesthouses slated for opening in 2023. We saw some spectacular properties hit the scene last year, and we’re already anticipating the arrival of some new game changers as we roll into the new year. Here are some of the names causing a stir in the Y Travel office… including offerings from some of our preferred partner hotels. THE PENINSULA, ISTANBUL

Set along the banks of the stunning Bosphorus – the meeting point of East and West in the beautiful historic city of Istanbul – The Peninsula Istanbul will welcome its first guests in 2023. The hotel, located in the Karaköy district, will anchor a new waterfront revitalisation project called Galataport, to include a promenade, museums and art galleries, restaurants, boutiques, and a cruise ship port. 


THE RITZ CARLTON, MELBOURNE

Set above the city skyline, the Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne celebrates ancient stories and vibrant cultures through signature luxury experiences. Presenting breathtaking panoramic views, it promises an expression of timeless and distinct luxury. Designed with materials inspired by the unique stories of the city, the hotel presents luxury accommodation, signature dining experiences across both restaurant and bar, holistic wellness spaces and infinity pool, as well as world-class meeting and event facilities and service. 


HOTEL LA PALMA, CAPRI

The original hotel on Capri will once more become the chicest address on the island for people who want to see and be seen. Each of the 50 rooms – including 18 suites – offer its own private balcony or terrace. Originally scheduled to open in 2022, this Hotel has been taunting the who’s who of the world as Oetker Collection’s latest offering.


SIX SENSES, ROME

Six Senses Rome offers both an escape and a sensory-rich journey for international guests and locals. Layered on to this are little rituals contrasting with the grandiose beauty of the Eternal City. From BIVIUM Restaurant-Café-Bar, to a unique Rome-at-your-feet feeling on NOTOS Rooftop, and our take on the ancient art of bathing – all just steps away from historic landmarks and glorious works of art.


CAPELLA, SYDNEY

Opening March 2023, in a re-awakened heritage listed sandstone icon, Capella Sydney will be setting a global benchmark for luxury accommodation, cuisine and cultural immersion. Balancing storied architectural features with a contemporary design aesthetic, Capella’s newest offering celebrates the Australian panorama through its interiors, location and experiences.

AMAN NISEKO, JAPAN

On nature’s doorstep, this new Aman destination will provide unrivalled access to seasonal outdoor pursuits, from skiing and snowboarding in winter, to hiking, mountain biking and river rafting the rest of the year. Befitting the onsen capital of the world, both indoor and outdoor onsen – Japanese hot spring bathing pools – will be a feature of the Aman Spa and every Residence.


COLLEGIO ALLA QUERCE BY AUBERGE, ITALY

Auberge’s latest European escape takes inspiration from the artistry and perfection of Renaissance greats whose eye for beauty bridges past and present. Tucked down a cypress-lined entrance north of Florence’s cobblestoned centro storico, wrought-iron gates open onto Collegio alla Querce, an exquisite cluster of reimagined 16th-century UNESCO buildings once serving as a cultural institution, preparatory school, chapel and theater. The hotel grounds, embraced by acres of magnificent Baroque gardens, gaze upon panoramic views of the iconic Duomo and terracotta cityscape, and on the opposite side, miles of lush Chianti winelands.


THE LANA BY DORCHESTER COLLECTION, DUBAI

The latest gem in Dorchester’s premium collection will be unveiled in July 2023 as a landmark of luxury in the heart of Dubai. A striking building positioned among the gleaming skyscrapers of the vibrant Business Bay area and beside the waters of Dubai Canal, The Lana stands out as an architectural marvel. THE FIFTH AVENUE HOTEL, NEW YORK

1 HOTEL HANALEI BAY, KAUAI

Located in one of the most beautiful spots on Earth, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay will bring a world-class wellness resort and flagship sustainable sanctuary to Kauai’s North Shore. Settle into Ethereal Comfort in Kauaʻi with Elemental Design That Emulates the Land. One of the most anticipated sustainable openings of 2023.


MASAI MARA LODGE BY JW MARRIOTT, KENYA

Marriott International has partnered with Baraka Lodge Ltd to open the JW Marriott Safari Lodge next year. The elegant, luxurious safari property will be located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife conservation and wilderness regions. Overlooking the famed banks of the River Talek and on the edge of the reserve, JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge’s prime location will offer guests a distinctively elevated camp from which to discover the Masai Mara National Reserve, its stunning vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains. The new Lodge will feature 20 private tents, including one presidential canvas-topped pavilion and two interconnecting canopied suites, ideal for families, each with a private terrace overlooking the river.


MANDARIN ORIENTAL MAYFAIR, LONDON

This new, slick hotel located on the corner of one of Mayfair’s oldest squares is considered to be the little sister of stalwart Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. MO Mayfair will offer a unique taste of urban luxury right in the heart of London. The hotel will provide a calming, discreet sanctuary for its guests while at the same time delivering a contemporary and vibrant atmosphere in the public spaces. Korean-born, Michelin-starred chef Akira Back will make his British debut here, overseeing two restaurants, a bar and a rooftop space. The wellness centre will include a spa and a 25-metre swimming pool.


COMO LE MONTRACHET, FRANCE

Luxury resort brand, COMO’s new estate in Burgundy is a haven for wine aficionados. Here you can enjoy the renowned wines of the historic Puligny-Montrachet village while experiencing the best of COMO’s culinary offerings, the brand’s elegant design, sharp service and immersive COMO Shambhala wellness treatments.

CAP KAROSO, SUMBA, INDONESIA

Cap Karoso is a new resort conceived by first-time hoteliers who fell in love with the location and its beautiful, undiscovered nature. The resort is inspired by the layouts and traditions of a local village, but its high-quality interiors and modernist architecture offer a sophisticated take on the 21st-century resort design. The living spaces draw from the local Marapu themes, using carved wooden panels and local objects and art. Common areas are set up under thatched roofs, while the villa roofs are covered with live greenery, making a conscious connection to the landscape.
