Top 5 Destinations we are Booking for 2022
For so long our homes have been our office, our gym and even our children’s school! So now what? With the opening up of borders after all this time, let’s hit the reset button on our travel mentality, let’s remember the days when our home was where we returned to after a trip away, not a place we stayed at all day.
Navigating our way through this crazy new world is going to be challenging. Fortunately we are here to help and guide you through. Whether you are ready to take off on an international flight or prefer continuing to explore your own backyard, the rules and regulations are endless. The role of a Travel Advisor has never been so important.
Enough of the boring stuff! It’s time to inspire you, to help you tick off the boxes of your travel wanderlist. We are ready to take you on the new Y Travel journey. It’s time to travel with passion and purpose.
Where to, we hear you ask? The possibilities are expanding every day, but right now, these are the 5 most popular destinations that are on the top of your travel list for 2022.
Italy
We all know Rome, Florence, Venice…just to name a few of the obvious choices. It’s not hard to understand why people continually return to the cities. The appetite at the moment though is to go deeper, to explore the unsung hero’s of Italy, the lesser known islands, the lesser known areas.
For those wanting a more raw Italian island experience, Ischia and Pantelleria cannot be missed. Then there is the magical island of Sardinia. Not only about white sand beaches and crystal clear water, Sardinia also offers a nature wonderland to discover.
We are curating extended journeys through different regions so our clients can become fully immersed in their own little nook of Italy. Take for example the region of Puglia in the heel of the boot with its white-washed hilltop towns, secret cave cities, incredible Trulli houses, and a coastline that you have to see to believe. Then of course there’s ALWAYS more to discover in Tuscany. From the rolling hills, cypress trees and medieval hilltop villages to its lesser known beach club scene.
Italy is always in style and you will always be able to discover a new pocket.
Greece
A European Summer in the Greek Islands is an absolute fave with Australians. But there is so much more to Greece than just island hopping through the Cyclades.
No matter how many times we send our clients to Mykonos, they want to return to the island that offers a multitude of luxury accommodation, great restaurant options and a fun beach club vibe. For a more authentic and off-the-beaten path Cycladic experience away from the crowds of Mykonos & Santorini we are adding in islands such as Sifnos, Milos and Paros, each with their own special personality.
Leaving the Cyclades aside for a moment, the Ionian Islands located on the western side of the country, offer a different type of Greek Island experience. The architecture on the islands shares a strong connection to Italy, and with it’s more lush, green landscape, it offers a great contrast to the more well known and sought after Cyclades.
Of course Greece is not just about the beautiful islands. The mainland is full of rich history and traditions that are waiting to be discovered.
Fiji
It’s completely crazy but there is more certainty booking a flight to Fiji than trying to get to Queensland at the moment. With more than 80% of people in Fiji fully vaccinated along with their ‘no-jab no-job’ policy, Fiji is certainly one of the top destinations we are booking.
Tip: Upon arrival to your resort of choice you will need to have a PCR test and then stay within the grounds of your accommodation for the first 48hrs. Rest assured you will not find this to be a hard task when choosing from a great selection of our preferred options.
Even though the weather in January may not be ideal, Christmas holidays are nearly fully booked, and Easter 2022 is not far behind. This just goes to show how much a tropical getaway is near the top of everyone’s post lockdown list. Whether you are after a family holiday or a romantic reconnection, Fiji is the place for you.
The United Kingdom
The opening of the international borders have allowed so many of our clients to start planning trips to the UK to visit family & friends.
Who doesn’t want a trip to London for immersion in shopping, food, art, history & culture?
Take a drive to the country visiting towns such as Bristol with its remarkable food scene. Spend a weekend in Oxfordshire at the beautiful ‘Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons’ a Belmond Hotel and attend the Raymond Blanc Cookery School.
Venture even further afield to neighbouring Scotland for golf touring, architecture & history, some remarkable off the beaten track adventures and luxury rail journeys through a scenic wonderland. Whilst there, the Whisky distilleries are a must do experience of course!
Hawaii
For the perfect mix of tropical mainland Honolulu, and island life, Hawaii is a much requested destination.
There is still so much to discover, even on the better known islands such as Maui, Kauai, and the big island of Hawaii. Take the famed road to Hana on the North-East coast of Maui for a remote blend of Aloha spirit and coastal charm. If hiking is your thing, you cannot miss the Napali Coast or the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea Canyon National Park, both in Kauai.
For those seeking the thrill of an active volcano, head to the big island of Hawaii to get your volcano fix and for the golf enthusiast, there is an abundance of Championship golf courses, that will test golfers of every ability.
Hawaii offers something for everyone!
